Improvement Concept Study Completed!
Nearly a quarter of a million people rely each day on the I-435/I-35/K-10 interchange to move safely, efficiently and conveniently through Johnson County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) spent 2009-2010 creating an improvement plan to better handle future traffic demands, accommodate public transportation, and support economic development efforts as the region continues to grow. The study team prioritized the improvement recommendations and developed a phased construction plan to allow the project to be completed over time.

This website summarizes all the efforts completed during the study process and shows the final recommendations including the phasing plans. While it will take many years to complete all the proposed improvements, the first phase of improvements will begin in 2012. Until then, updates will be provided through the website, but the frequency will decline until construction is ready to begin. As the construction phases of the project begin, the website will provide frequent updates and additional project information.
